P1 Registration Timeline: Key Dates
Singapore's 2026 P1 Registration Exercise ran from 30 June to 18 August 2026 across five phases for citizen and PR children, with final results on 27 August. It has now closed; MOE announces the next exercise's dates around the middle of the following year.
Primary 1 (P1) registration is how Singapore Citizen (SC) and Permanent Resident (PR) families enrol a child into a mainstream primary school for the next year. It runs online over five phases between late June and mid-August. The 2026 exercise — for children starting P1 in 2027 — has now concluded, with the final results released on 27 August 2026. This page records the official dates it ran on and explains how the timeline works, so you know what to expect when the next exercise opens.
The 2026 timeline at a glance
For the 2026 exercise, parents could view their child’s eligible phases on the P1 Registration Portal from 9am on Tuesday, 30 June 2026. Each phase then had its own short registration window and a separate results day.
| Phase | Registration window (2026) | Results |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | 9am 30 Jun – 4.30pm 2 Jul | 8 Jul 2026 |
| Phase 2A | 9am 9 Jul – 4.30pm 10 Jul | 17 Jul 2026 |
| Phase 2B | 9am 20 Jul – 4.30pm 21 Jul | 27 Jul 2026 |
| Phase 2C | 9am 28 Jul – 4.30pm 30 Jul | 11 Aug 2026 |
| Phase 2C Supplementary | 9am 17 Aug – 4.30pm 18 Aug | 27 Aug 2026 |
International students are considered only afterwards, in Phase 3, through a separate two-step process.
Who each phase is for
The phases run in a fixed order, from the narrowest eligibility to the most open:

Each phase’s results came about a week after its registration window. Source: MOE Primary 1 registration results, October 2026.
- Phase 1 — a child with a sibling currently studying in the school. All eligible Phase 1 applicants are offered a place.
- Phase 2A — a child whose parent or sibling is a former student, whose parent sits on the School Advisory or Management Committee, whose parent is a staff member, or who is from the MOE Kindergarten located within the school.
- Phase 2B — a child whose parent is a qualifying parent volunteer, is endorsed by a connected church or clan, or is endorsed as an active community leader.
- Phase 2C — open to all children not yet registered, with no prior tie required.
- Phase 2C Supplementary — a child still not registered after Phase 2C.
Because the open phase sits near the end, families with no connection to a school register later and face the most balloting. For the full rules of each phase, see our guide to the P1 registration phases.
Why the dates matter
The windows are short and strict — Phase 1 lasted only from 30 June to 2 July, for example. Registration is online through the P1 Registration Portal with Singpass, and only one parent needs to submit. Because a phase can close in under three days, knowing your eligible phase in advance is what lets you register on time.
When a phase is oversubscribed
If a school receives more applicants than places, admission is settled first by citizenship (SCs before PRs) and then by home-school distance — within 1km, between 1km and 2km, and beyond 2km. Balloting is used only inside the distance band where places run out, and this distance priority applies from Phase 2B onwards. The mechanics are explained in our guide to home-school distance priority.
MOE also sets aside reserved places so children without connections keep a route in: under the current framework, 20 places per school for Phase 2B and 40 for Phase 2C.
What happens if you miss out
Being unsuccessful in a phase is not the end of the road. You simply register in the next phase your child qualifies for. A child who is still without a place after Phase 2C Supplementary is posted by MOE to a school that still has vacancies, so every eligible child ends up with a place.
When is the next exercise?
The 2026 exercise is over. The next one — the 2027 P1 Registration Exercise, for children starting P1 in 2028 — will follow a similar June-to-August rhythm, but MOE confirms the exact phase windows closer to the time, usually around the middle of the year. Watch MOE’s “Registration phases and key dates” page for the official 2027 schedule.
Next steps
- Confirm which phase your child is eligible for, using the P1 phase finder.
- If you have no prior tie to a school, plan around Phase 2C and read how to choose a primary school using official data.
- Understand the distance rule early, since it decides most balloting — see home-school distance priority.
